Research shows that children as young as 5 are able to use statements like "A > B" to convey information about the relative lengths of 2 objects. This seemingly trivial accomplishment opens the door to an astonishingly powerful system of genuine mathematics; one that includes logic, proof, and symbolic manipulation, all without the introduction of a single numeral.
